PMDS participation on the review of the Panama Merchant Marine Law No. 57

The Panama Maritime Authority started the review of the Merchant Marine Law No. 57 with the participation of different sectors related to the maritime industry.

 

The new project includes an international marketing plan to promote the registry, the adoption of new technologies and the modernization of the processes, among other measures.

 

As part of the International Association of Recognized Organizations (IARO), the PMDS COO, Lic. Ernesto Nuñez and the Technical Manager Eng. Xavier Varcasia, participated in a meeting with the Panama Maritime Authorities and IARO members, to know about the progress in the revision of the Law No. 57 and the IARO proposals.

 

Candidate to the IMO General Secretariat

The Panama Maritime Administrator Naval Architect Noriel Arauz and the Merchant Marine Director, Eng. Rafael Cigarruista, presented to the IARO Members, the candidate to the IMO General Secretariat, Eng. Arsenio Domínguez, who is presently part of the Senior Management Committee of the IMO.
